Tom Hendry Chairman of Shrewsbury and Atcham Conservatives
I am delighted to welcome you to our new website. This has been specially designed to be used by those who are already members of the Shrewsbury and Atcham Conservative Association (SACA) and by those who are interested in joining.
We have an active and hard working volunteer base which was a vital element in the successes that we have had during 2005. We now have a Conservative MP, Daniel Kawczynski, for the first time in eight years whilst we were able to help regain control of the Shropshire County Council. It would be easy to rest on our laurels, but all those involved in running your Association are
committed to build strongly on these achievements. 2006 will be another important year with Borough Elections in May when we must campaign hard to retain our control of SABC.
You will find easy access to Daniel’s website where you can keep up to date with all he is doing for the constituency and the party. We have also tried to make it easy for you to connect to relevant local and national websites including Conservative Central Office, Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council and Shropshire County Council where you can contact your local councillors and keep up to date with activities. We are very keen to increase the number of our younger supporters and those under 30 may be interested to access the Conservative Future website. Please click on the appropriate button.
We have a very active set of social and fundraising events through the year. For more information you can access the Social Events Calendar for the latest details.
We have a very active ladies’ group who organise a regular Ladies Luncheon Club; the gentlemen’s equivalent SAGS meets regularly for inexpensive evening dinners (Contact: John Coward on 01743-232873); whilst the Supper Club meets regularly for dinner and a guest speaker (Contact: Monty Robinson on 01743-248404). Please click on the appropriate button for details.
We have recently relaunched our 200 Club that offers a chance for members to donate regular funds to the Association whilst qualifying for exciting monthly and half-yearly prizes. Please click on ‘200 Club’ for details.
We are very fortunate in Shrewsbury and Atcham to have a committed set of Officers, a splendid Management and Campaign Team supported by an active Executive. We also have a dedicated, hard working young MP in Daniel Kawczynski. The future does indeed look bright. We have a new, dynamic Conservative Party leader, David Cameron and, with your help, we can look forward to the Conservatives being in power again in the not too distant future!
